Words used in this guide

Open a term to see how it is used in this learning app.

Wholistic

The deliberate spelling used here to emphasise the whole person, including their relationships, circumstances and connection with the living world.

Inner Ecology

Bruce’s teaching model for exploring the person as an interconnected living system. Its seven domains help organise enquiry; they are not seven separate diagnoses.

Coherence

In this app, a workable relationship between a person’s needs, habits, environment and support. It is not a single clinical measurement or a promise that all aspects of life will align.

Regeneration

Tending supportive conditions and capacity over time. In this educational framework, the term does not guarantee tissue regrowth or recovery from a disease.

Salutogenesis

An approach that asks what supports health and wellbeing. In the Create Health principle, it directs attention towards resources, meaning and nourishing experiences.

Somatic awareness

Attention to present bodily experience, such as posture, movement, contact and sensation. Noticing a sensation does not by itself reveal a hidden cause or a stored memory.

Vital force

Traditional language for the animating quality or organising intelligence of life. Here it is presented as philosophy and experience, distinct from established measurements of electrical activity in cells.

Reciprocity

A relationship of giving and receiving. A person may be nourished by a community or living place while also contributing to its care.

Therapeutic Order

A naturopathic framework for considering the intensity and purpose of care. It is responsive to clinical need, not a rule that delays indicated medical treatment.
